Visit to Central Narcotics Bureau

We have arranged for a visit to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on the morning of Saturday 5 July 2014 from 10 am to 11.30 am. The programme will include a presentation on CNB, the local drug situation, drug control approach and the preventive drug education programme. We will also visit the CNB Heritage Gallery.

A maximum of 50 persons are allowed for the visit. We can include Alumni members, their spouses and children who are at least in Secondary One.

Visit to the Central Fire Station Open House and Civil Defence Heritage Gallery

The visit will begin at 10.00 am for a one hour walk through at the Central Fire Station. At 11.00 am, we will proceed to the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery that traces fire fighting and civil defence developments in Singapore from the late 1800s till modern day. There is also a Gallery Souvenir Shop where visitors could purchase unique collection of gifts consisting of T-shirts, caps, badges and pins.

Do join us for this visit. Bring your family and children along for this unforgettable experience on a Saturday morning. Children below the age of 12 will receive activity booklets complimentary of Singapore Civil Defence Force, while stocks last.

NPCC Inter-Area .38 Revolver Shooting Competition

The Inter-Area .38 Revolver Shooting Competition is an annual event organised for all NPCC Officers and Cadets Inspectors. The competition is aimed to encourage good marksmanship and to promote a competitive spirit amongst Officers and Cadet Inspectors. The event will be held on 24 August 2013, Saturday from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm, at the Home Team Academy Range, 501 Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

There is also an open category where other Youth Uniformed Groups are invited to compete among themselves. NPCC Alumni is invited to send a team of 5 officers to participate in the Inter-Organisation Teams event.

All team members will be required to go through at least one Weapon Handling & Safety Training (WHST) and one live shoot to qualify for the event. All teams have to attend at least one of the two sessions on either 20 July 2013 from 4 to 6pm (Saturday) or 15 August 2013 from 6 to 8pm (Thursday) at the Home Team Academy Range. Please refer to the below activity for details of our practices for the Inter-Organisation Teams event.

Yeo See Peng

Yeo See Peng, an ex-NPCC cadet from Dunman High School (1979-82), is a Commando, a General, and a Division Commander in the Army.

See Peng, appointed as the Commander of 6th Singapore Division since 18 Feb 2011, just get promoted to Brigadier General today.

He is a SAF Overseas Training Award (Academic) Holder and Postgraduate Scholar, graduated with Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, a Master of Military Studies from the United States Marine Corps University, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.

He attended the Japan-ASEAN Fellowship Exchange Programme held in Tokyo in 1998 and the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico from 1995 to 1996.

See Peng has been serving in the SAF for 25 years. His previous principal appointments include Commanding Officer (CO) 6th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (6 SIR), Head of General Staff Branch at HQ Commando, Commander 3rd Singapore Infantry Brigade (3 SIB), a Group Head in TRADOC, Assistant Chief of the General Staff (Intelligence), and Head of Joint Intelligence in the Joint Intelligence Directorate.

At the change of command parade held at Mandai Hill Camp on 18 Feb 2011, BG Ishak handed over command of 6 DIV to See Peng.

Tan Yee Kan

Tan Yee Kan, an ex-NPCC cadet from Dunman High School (1978-81). Being a MOE scholar who graduated from the National Taiwan University, Yee Kan started his teaching career as a Chinese language teacher.

Yee Kan became famous in the media when he was the principal of Yishun Town Secondary School between 2005-11. He was instrumental to the school for being the first neighbourhood school to achieve Gold Award for Academic Value-addedness in Normal Stream, among other Sustained Achievement Awards attained in 2005. Other achievements including being the only school in Singapore to win all six Sustained Achievement awards in 2008, and eventually leading the School to become an Autonomous School from 2010.

Yee Kan takes over as the principal of Nan Chiau High School when the school was designated as a Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school from January 2012.

NOTICE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an Extraordinary General Meeting (“EOGM) of the NPCC Alumni will be held at Senior Police Officers’ Mess (SPOM) Committee Room, 153 Mt Pleasant Road on Sunday, 26th December 2010 at 18.00 hours for the purpose of considering and, if thought fit, passing the following resolution as an ordinary resolution of NPCC Alumni:

“That” the constitution be amended:

a. To include social membership to individuals. The application is open to any persons who have served in the NPCC and subject to the approval of the Committee. Social members shall not be entitled to vote in a General Meeting and hold office in the Committee

b. To empower the NPCC Alumni management committee to determine and approve the applications for ordinary membership with payment of the appropriate subscription

c. To change the tenure of office for the Committee to two years from the date of being elected

d. To include the mode of communication on complaints and suggestions. All letters of complaints and/or suggestions shall be replied in writing to the member concerned.

e. To include the vice-President as a co-signatory of the banking account
